Steve Stricker has been having a commendable year on the PGA Tour Champions. Since his recovery in 2022, the golfer has competed in 13 tournaments and has finished marvelously. He has won three tournaments this year, increasing his Senior Tour victory count to 14 wins. Thanks to his exceptional performance, Stricker was able to put his name above the world’s greatest.

He is currently competing in the American Family Insurance Championship, and during the opening round, he ended Tiger Woods’ reign. How? Well, the 56-year-old golfer shot 7-under 65 to complete his 53rd consecutive round at even par or better on a PGA TOUR-sanctioned event. The previous record of 52 consecutive rounds of par or better was held by none other than Tiger Woods. Woods achieved this remarkable record 22 years ago, during the 2000 and 2001 seasons.

The common factor between both of these records is that both champions have had six victories during their record-breaking performances. According to the PGA Tour’s website, Woods created this consistent history with his win at the 2000 Memorial Tournament, and it ended in the 2021 season when he shot a 23 during the second round at TPC Scottsdale. Heroically, the golf legend amassed three major wins within this under-65 streak.

The five-time senior major winner is setting extremely important precedents in the golf world. With his current number 1 ranking in the Champions Tour in greens in regulation, birdie average, scoring average, total driving, and scrambling, the golfer is not even close to being done inside the ropes. And now that he has broken Woods’ record, he will certainly be looking to do even better!

For Woods, however, his broken record is yet another in a streak of records that have been bettered in the past few weeks alone! After all, just recently, a 20-year-old broke another of his records!

An emerging LPGA sensation broke Woods’ elusive record

Rose Zhang, or the trailblazer, has become the name that everyone has grown to be familiar with in the past few weeks. She became the first debutant in 72 years on the LPGA Tour to emerge victorious in her LPGA debut. Not just this, but last month, she also shattered Tiger Woods’ Stanford record!

As she clenched her second individual NCAA Championship victory, she broke Woods’ record of having the most victories during his Stanford years and became the Stanford star. Her second individual NCAA title marked her 12th victory, whereas the 15-time major champion only had 11. Moreover, Zhang’s 12 wins came over 20 events, whereas Woods competed in 26 events to amass his 11 wins.

Her tremendous achievements have earned her tons of praise these past weeks, and when she won in New Jersey at Liberty National, the 15-time major winner himself congratulated her.
