In addition to the majors, the ‘golden bear’ also has numerous other records and accolades to his name. On 7th October, Nicklaus headed to Jacksonville, Florida for the opening day of the PGA Champions Tour’s Constellation Furyk & Friends. The legend graced the tournament by hitting the opening tee. The shot opened the doors of praise from fans at the Timuquana Country Club. However, the praise that stood out from others was that of the NFL legend, Ben Roethlisberger.

Ben Roethlisberger left in awe of Jack Nicklaus
As mentioned earlier, Jack Nicklaus is largely considered a legendary player. Considering his aura, it goes without saying that getting to meet him is a dream come true for any sports enthusiast. Ben Roethlisberger yesterday seemed to live that dream. Enjoying a day of golf with his family, Roethlisberger met Nicklaus at the Timuquana Country Club.

While he enjoyed the opening tee by Nicklaus, he was left amused to learn that Nicklaus knew who he was. Not being able to control his exhilaration, the former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback said, “I literally just told my wife it’s cool that he knows who I am. I mean…it’s a legend.”

Apart from his golfing skills, Nicklaus is also known for his personality, something that also left the 2-time Super Bowl champion in awe. Going ahead in the conversation, the 40-year-old said, “What a neat human being. Obviously, we know he’s the greatest golfer of all time. But just, what an amazing person. Taking the time for everybody, and to be here and to do this, shows how special he is.”

While Roethlisberger enjoyed the aura of golfing grace, it was his son that lived the day of his life. Interacting with Nicklaus, Roethlisberger’s 9-year-old son, Benjamin Todd Roethlisberger, received a piece of important career advice. “Well, I would tell you, if you can’t crush it (golf ball) by that, you better take up football,” Nicklaus told Benjamin.
