Padraig Harrington to Make Champions Tour Debut at Jim Furyk’s Event: Mickelson, Stricker Also in the Field
Last year, way before the Ryder Cup, Padraig Harrington was speaking of the Champions Tour. The 50-year-old Irishman believes he wants to play where he will win, his other events already limited. Now that the Ryder Cup itself is wrapped up, Harrington has decided to finally make his Champions Tour debut as he’s now eligible.
Padraig Harrington will make his PGA Tour Champions Debut at Jim Furyk’s inaugural event which will be played at Timuquana Country Club in his hometown of Jacksonville, Florida.
That being said, Harrington’s fans and Twitter users were excited about his new venture. Making the move is not easy, but might actually suit someone like Harrington.

Is Padraig Harrington excited to debut on the PGA Tour Champions?
Padraig Harrington competed in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championships at the St Andrews Old Course, but unfortunately missed the 54-hole cut. He could not play further after failing to get above the cutline, which was determined at -2.
“It was a pity it was only 54 holes but as a “good friend” of mine pointed out it was great preparation for my debut next week on the @ChampionsTour,” Harrington wrote, tagging other relevant accounts for some reason.

People wished Padraig luck on social media. Some even wondered how he will balance playing on other tours and which will be his priority. The remaining fans hoped for a maiden victory, while others were aware this was a new chapter in Harrington’s life.

As per reports, Phil Mickelson is set to make his fourth Champion’s Tour start at Jim Furyk’s event. Mickelson has won on the Champions Tour thrice in the past and has been incredibly dominant whenever he’s played.
Furthermore, U.S. Ryder Cup captain Steve Stricker will also be a part of the field at Timuquana Country Club. Four out of the five U.S. Ryder Cup captains are playing this event, which makes it one of the strongest fields ever assembled in Champions Tour’s history.

The field boasts names like Bernhard Langer, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Jerry Kelly, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Mike Weir and Vijay Singh, and boasts 415 PGA Tour wins and 38 major championship titles combined!
