A few weeks ago, Collin Morikawa and the Ryder Cup US Team were on their way to work as a team. Now that they have practiced, played, and won together, the US Team members seem to have learned new things about each other. Their chemistry is evident on and off the course, something which Morikawa confirmed during a recent interview.

Morikawa spoke about his team in detail, sharing various things about all members. The Ryder Cup provided all members a chance to form bonds with their players, which shows up when they interact with each other.

What did Morikawa have to say about Daniel Berger?

Morikawa discussed a little about all members, including Daniel Berger, who he says was the funniest member. “From watching as a spectator, Boog. He’s going to do childish and stupid things sometimes,” he said. “He can be serious, but he’ll always make you laugh”.

Berger was 2–1–0 overall and did impress many with his performances throughout the tournament. The 28-year-old has been performing well and had eight top-10 finishes for the 2020-21 season. He also had a 1.89 birdie-to-bogey ratio, ranking third in the league after John Rahm and Patrick Cantlay.

This was also Berger’s Ryder Cup debut, as he was one of the rookies chosen by captain Steve Stricker.

Of course, this was also Morikawa’s debut. He scored 3–0–1 overall. Playing three team matches, Morikawa won all three. His singles match with Victor Hovland, however, ended in a tie. Morikawa has won two major titles: the 2020 PGA Championship and the 2021 Open Championship, both in the span of 14 months. The 24-year-old was the youngest American player.

During the interview, Morikawa also spoke about the best laugh they had. It was undoubtedly their presser, after the historic 19-9 win. Morikawa himself was aware of how the press conference was, hoping it would be recognized as one of the best of all times.

As mentioned, Morikawa and Johnson won all three of their team events. While the two-time major winner spoke about some lighter topics, he also discussed how he played with Johnson. He explained that they did not say much and kept their conversations short. “He leads with a quiet confidence. His presence was felt all week,” Morikawa said.

He added that DJ speaks when he has to, which was before Stricker’s captain’s picks. Morikawa even confirmed what was spoken at the presser, adding that yes, Johnson can indeed out-party them.
