Two of the most celebrated players in their respective sports, Tiger Woods and Serena Williams share a close bond together. Both are surreal winners in their own domain, having etched their names in the record books by winning several major championships. However, both have had their fair share of struggles, from which the pair have made incredible comebacks. In Williams’ case, it was her back-to-back finals appearance after delivering her first child, Olympia, for which she was well-appreciated by Woods.

Her road to the finals of the US Open wasn’t easy. She had to face off against her older sister, Venus Williams, in the third round of the tournament. However, she reached her second consecutive grand slam final and was one win away from claiming her first major win since motherhood.

The comeback was lauded by fans and journalists all over the world, including Williams’ long-time friend, Tiger Woods. “Having a child, and having all the duties of a mother, and trying to come back and trying to play at the elite level, and she’s doing it,” Woods said. “That’s, what, back-to-back [Grand Slam] finals? However, defeat awaited Williams in her quest for another major championship, as she lost in the finals. She quit the game earlier this year after her defeat in the third round of this year’s US Open. On the other hand, Woods is making another comeback in golf since suffering from injuries in a car crash in February 2021.
