For several years now, many have crowned Tiger Woods as one of the greatest golfers of all time if not the greatest. However, the statement only gets better when you hear it from a fellow great. Earlier this year, PGA Tour released a video in which legends from other sports as well as golf appreciated Tiger for his immense contribution to the sport. Among the greats were also included Woods’ close friend Serena Williams.

Woods and Williams share a close bond. Though not related by blood, the duo consider themselves to be siblings. Moreover, both athletes have been seen supporting each other during their participation in many events in their respective sports.

Serena Williams was in awe of Tiger Woods

In the video released by PGA Tour earlier this year, legends of the sporting world gathered together for a video to share thoughts on Woods. This included Michael Phelps, Jerry Rice, and golf’s own Annika Sorenstam and Jack Nicklaus. The tennis great Williams also spoke about her good friend.

When I hear the word GOAT, I think of people that are really the best in what they do”, said Serena. The tennis star then revealed that she never thought of being friends with Woods when she first met him. However, the aura and personality were more than enough for Williams to be in awe of Tiger.

I was just honestly in awe of him”. She further added why Woods is one of the greatest of all time by saying, “Hard work is the epitome of why Tiger Woods is so good at what he does”. Moreover, Williams also sees a lot of similarities between how she and Woods have dominated their respective sports.

The Tennis legend then claimed to have never watched golf until Woods arrived and made it intriguing. While talking about Tiger’s passionate fist bumps, Serena stated, “That’s what I do. To see him bring that to golf was just so cool”.

After appreciating the legendary legacy of the Hall of Famer, Serena Williams then talked about Woods’ win at the 2018 Tour Championship.

At the 2018 Tour Championship, Tiger Woods ended his five-year PGA Tour victory drought with a win at the East Lake. It is regarded as one of his best wins. During her tribute to the golfer, Serena Williams also reminisced about the memorable triumph.

It was amazing to see Tiger’s comeback”, said the Tennis star. Woods’ win was not usual and Williams was aware of it, as she said the win “brought lots of tears to my eyes”. Moreover, the moment was inspirational for the 23-time Grand Slam winner. She then ended her message by sharing what aspect of Tiger she admires the most.

Williams said, “His mental strength and ability to win”. Undoubtedly, no matter what the circumstance may be, Tiger Woods has always found a way back to the top.  And similar to his friend Serena Williams, both athletes are considered greats because of their urge to glory.
