Balancing a relationship with a career is no easy task. And when that career is in a particular sport, it only gets harder. And with two different athletes playing in two different corners of the world, it seems an almost impossible feat. Such was the relationship between Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn.

The couple dated for three years before they ended things, and Tiger, in an interview, revealed the multitude of reasons.

Tiger Woods opens up about his past dating life

In a 2015 sit-down with the Time magazine’s Lorne Rubenstein, Tiger Woods revealed the reasons behind his relationship with Lindsey Vonn. He said, “What was hard is we never had time together.” The golf legend revealed that they had a very good relationship, but each had their own commitments. He said, “When I’m training to do my sport, it takes umpteen hours to do.”

Vonn, too, was a professional athlete. She was an Alpine ski racer, and she too had a rigid schedule to adhere to. Woods said, “Meanwhile, most of her summer is spent in South America, at training camps in Chile and Argentina, and then you’ve got her season, which is mostly in Europe.”

Due to their conflicting schedules and their dedication to their respective sports, the couple rarely had time together. Woods then mentioned why he could not travel to see her. It was because his children were his priority. He said, “My off weeks I’m devoted to my kids—and I have to be here.”

Who is Woods dating now?

Woods and Vonn dated for three years and then ended things early in May 2015. “It just could not work,” said Woods. “It was doing an injustice to both of us.” The 15-time major winner is currently dating Erica Herman. The two were first seen together as a couple at the 2017 Presidents Cup.

Erica works in the restaurant business, so Tiger doesn’t face the issues he faced with Vonn. Herman is quite fond of Woods’ kids, as well. She is often seen on the course with them, cheering for Tiger. They also spent a lot of time together during his recovery soon after Woods’ unfortunate accident in 2021.
