Who Is Kyle Sterbinsky, the Man Behind Cameron Young’s Success?

Kyle Sterbinsky is one of the former college teammates of Cameron Young. Often noted as one of Young’s best friends, the duo played collegiate golf together at Wake Forest University. The caddie from Yardley, Pennsylvania, played high school golf at Peddie School, where he was ranked among the top juniors at No. 7. At around the age 16, he became the youngest medalist in the local event, the BMW Philadelphia Amateur, in the history of that event. Following that stint in college, Sterbinsky’s scoring average during his freshman year was 72.12.

While he may not have been a standout golfer at his university, Sterbinsky displayed significant technical mastery. Soon after graduation, Sterbinsky tried competitive golf, but failed to find his way in the professional circuits. In 2025, his caddying career officially began when his former teammate from college proposed bringing him to the bag.

How Did Cameron Young and Kyle Sterbinsky Start Working Together?

The duo began their partnership after a turn of events. In May this year, Young was suffering through one of his worst career slumps. The PGA Tour pro had missed 5 cuts in 8 events and finished outside the top 50 in 2 others. Without a doubt, Young was struggling with his driver, and as it turns out, with his then caddie, too. That’s when he called his old friend. The PGA Tour was at the Philadelphia Cricket Club for the Truist Championship. Sterbinsky, being from the Philadelphia region, was the perfect choice.

“I needed a change. Things were going poorly, and when things are going bad, you change something,” Young recalled. Things rolled on from there, beginning the duo’s relationship as golfer-caddie. “He said, ‘Yes, I’ll work for you as long as you want.’ It was going to be a couple of weeks. Played well. Another four weeks. Played well. And here we are.”

But the question is whether that change brought any difference for the golfer.

How Has Kyle Sterbinsky Helped Cameron Young’s Game?

Kyle Sterbinsky’s influence on Young’s game was quickly evident. At their first start together, despite a limited understanding of Young’s game, Sterbinsky helped the golfer secure a T7 in the leaderboard. A fresh change from the PGA Tour pro’s underwhelming season, their chemistry and their friendship serve as key factors to the success.

Their partnership brought two more T4 at the RBC Canadian Open and the US Open, before Young’s career-defining maiden title at the Wyndham Championship (22-under). Moreover, Sterbinsky’s incredible understanding of the greens has helped improve Young’s game more than just the trophy. The golfer has gained strokes putting in 7 of the 9 starts leading to their Wyndham Championship. In fact, in those three months, Sterbinsky’s assistance helped Young achieve the best putting performance in his pro career.

How Much Does Kyle Sterbinsky Earn as Cameron Young’s Caddie?

There is no publicly confirmed figure for Kyle Sterbinsky’s exact earnings as Cameron Young’s caddie. However, it’s pretty safe to say, given the duo’s incredible performance since partnering up and the Wyndham title, Sterbinsky is raking in the bucks.

Even after their Wyndham Championship victory, Sterbinsky has continued to deliver, with Young 3 more top 10 finishes in 4 starts. Apparently, their partnership is going strong, and that is pooling in significant earnings for both the golfer and the caddie.

What Is Kyle Sterbinsky’s Life Like Off the Course?

Kyle Sterbinsky keeps his private life largely out of the spotlight, with very little publicly shared beyond his career in golf. A former standout junior and Wake Forest teammate of Cameron Young, he has transitioned into caddying at the PGA Tour level but maintains a relatively low media profile. Off the course, Sterbinsky is believed to split his time between travel on tour and quieter stretches at home, likely in Florida, though details about his family, hobbies, or personal relationships remain private. His focus appears firmly on golf and supporting Young, while keeping his personal world away from public attention.

Although a much more recent caddie in Young’s pro career, Sterbinsky has already proven to be one of the most successful relationships. While he still remains largely in the shadows, Sterbinsky’s partnership with Young is bringing into light the caddie’s exceptional understanding of the depth and intricacies of the sport.
