Former tennis player James Blake was one of the most noteworthy American players on the Tour. Whenever he stepped on the court, he brought about another level of intensity altogether. The former World No. 4 won 10 singles titles in his career, which began in 1999. 

Recently, James Blake revealed an interesting incident that took place when he went for his sister-in-law’s 3.0 league match. During the visit, the former American player was talking to her, and he was scolded by the opposite team’s captain. 

James Blake reveals an amusing incident 

It was nice that Blake saw the funny side of it. He tweeted, “I played over 600 matches on tour not counting doubles, challengers, or futures. Not one warning for coaching. Attending my first ever 3.0 league match today to watch my sister in law and I got scolded by the opposing captain for talking to her during a changeover. Gotta laugh.”

James reflected on the more than 600 matches that he has played on the Tour in his distinguished career. He appreciated the irony that he didn’t receive a warning for coaching once in that period, but got scolded in this instance. 

At the moment, Blake has taken up the role of tournament director at the Miami Open. His role is to focus on player relations, the media, and improving the event. He has held this position since 2018. In 2019, the tournament shifted to the Hard Rock Stadium, that year’s edition was won by Roger Federer. 

Interestingly, Blake defeated Federer during the quarter-finals of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. We wish Blake the best of luck for his future endeavours, and hopefully, he can avoid being cautioned for coaching in the future.
