Grand Theft Auto (GTA) is one of the greatest franchises the world of gaming has seen. Rockstar Games and its parent company, Take-Two Initiative, laid the foundation back in 1997. Since then, the franchise has grown exponentially, both in terms of revenue and creatives. Rockstar’s first major hit, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, released in 2002 as an action-adventure and immediately hit the charts.

However, it’s almost been eight years since the launch of GTA V and still no announcement of GTA 6. Fans are slowly getting impatient, yet hanging in there playing GTA Online and mods. The studio has been dropping vague hints all over the internet about its next project, but nothing concrete yet.

While he delivered no concrete news, Take-Two CEO, Strauss Zelnick, recently answered questions about the upcoming game, albeit in a vague manner.

GTA 6: Take-Two CEO refuses to answer questions

On March 5, Strauss Zelnick was invited to Morgan Stanley’s Technology, Media & Telecom Conference. The motive of the conference was to have a discussion with potential investors about the company’s upcoming works. Obviously, CEO Zelnick got questions about Rockstar’s GTA 6. He neither confirmed nor denied the work on the expected game, he simply shut the question off.

Morgan Stanley’s Managing Director, Brian Nowak, asked Zelnick about the release date of GTA 6. His exact question was, “How do we think about remaster in console cycle potentially impacting the GTA 6, and any interest in giving a year?”

“Right, so, Rockstar hasn’t announced any new titles for the market and when there’s an announcement to be made it’ll come from Rockstar, so I’ll probably leave you there and I don’t think you would have expected anything else,” Zelnick responded.

Redditor Elena recorded and uploaded the interview clip on an unofficial subreddit GTA 6 community. As mentioned above, his statement does nothing to prove the existence of the game, neither denies it. He is simply letting Rockstar Games spill its own beans.

The clip divided the community underneath the original Reddit post. Some believe that Zelnick knows about the proceedings of the game but is choosing to be quiet, which is probably true. While some say the game is not happening anytime soon. One even predicted a timeline of the events “An announcement this year. Initial release date for late 2022, then it’ll get delayed to 2023.”

All in all, it seems likely we have a long wait ahead of us before we get anything conclusive out of the studio.
