Bayern Munich and Germany legend Oliver Kahn has accused the current Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola of wasting Mario Götze’s talent. He also criticized him of using Thomas Müller in the wrong positions.

“Guardiola gives Götze minutes when the game is already over,” he said to ZDF. “They don’t take advantage of his talent. Muller is playing in the wrong position as well. These problems, with two big players from Germany, must be resolved. Until recently Mario was the best and everything was going well and now everything is supposedly bad,” he said in an interview with the DFB’s official website. “You can’t meet everybody’s expectations.”For me it is clear that Mario is an exceptional talent, a player who can make a difference. For me he is without doubt one of the best players in the world.”

Götze is a product of the Borussia Dortmund youth academy and  was one of Europe’s best young players. Götze helped Borussia Dortmund clinch back to back Bundesliga titles in 2011 and 2012  In April 2013, a €37 million bid from Bayern Munich triggered a release clause in Götze’s contract, making Götze the second most expensive German player to date, after Mesut Özil.

Since moving to Bayern, Götze has won two Bundesliga titles and scored the only goal of the FIFA World Cup 2014 final in the 113th minute which helped beat Argentina and made Germany the World Cup Champions.
