GUTTED! Tsvetana Pironkova Fails To Make It for the Tokyo Olympics 2020

Bulgarian tennis player Tsvetana Pironkova has been on Tour for a fair amount of time. She started her career in 2007 on the main stage and within two years, got into the top 50 rankings. The veteran still continues to cause upsets from time to time.

Recently, it was revealed that Tsvetana Pironkova has failed to make it for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics. The Bulgarian player missed out due to the inability to get the required amount of points. It will come as a huge disappointment as the 33-year-old will have dimmer chances when the next Olympics Games are scheduled to take place.

However, it was not confirmed by the Bulgarian player that she would be competing or not. Although, with the current scenario, it is impossible also if she decides to feature for her nation.

Tsvetana Pironkova has performed well at the Grand Slams 

Reflecting on Pironkova’s career, she has managed to win only one title. However, her performances in the Grand Slam events have been more noteworthy. In 2010, the Bulgarian player made it to the semifinal of the Wimbledon Championships. Later in 2016, she reached the quarterfinal of the French Open

Last year, she made it to the quarterfinal of the US Open for the first time. Unfortunately, she has not been able to go past the second round at the Australian Open.

Coming onto the Tokyo Olympics 2020, there are many prominent names that are absent from the event this year. Players such as Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams are a few to name. There are various reasons, some aren’t playing due to the restrictions and then there are some who are dealing with injuries. 

The event is scheduled to take place from the 23rd of July and will end on the 8th of August. We wish all the athletes the best of luck at the games.
