Looks like the Aaron Rodgers– Green Bay tussle is not over yet. Rodgers earlier made his choice of moving away from the Green Bay Packers away known to the earlier world. Earlier Rodgers made headlines as he appeared on the Pat McAfee show, dropping several truth bombs not just on his fans but the entire Packers organization.
Rodgers made headlines as he appeared on the Pat McAfee show and expressed his desire to move on from the Packers. He shut down rumors of him retiring and instead revealed he intended to play for the New York Jets. Since then, Green Bay and the Jets have been busy formulating a deal beneficial for both sides and working out the dynamics. The Packers’ GM has since replied to Rodgers’ claims. Here’s what he had to say.

Packers GM fires back at Rodgers
During a recent interaction, the General Manager of the Green Bay Packers denied the accusations that Aaron Rodgers made on the Pat McAfee show. Rodgers claimed that the Packers went behind his back to ‘shop’ him.

Brian Gutekunst, however, refuted these claims and said he tried to contact Aaron Rodgers “many times” this offseason to discuss how he fit in the Packers’ future.

“Yeah I didn’t really take his comments like that, and it’s certainly not true. As we got out of the offseason, or after the season we had a good conversation and we were gonna have follow-up conversations.”
The Green Bay Packers GM feels that Rodgers not reciprocating their efforts and being unavailable for negotiations, gave him the impression that he ‘had to do his job’. Eventually, Gutekunst concluded that trade was indeed a possibility for Rodgers.
Gutekunst went on to say, “Obviously it was a disappointing season, right? And you come out of the season you have a lot of conversations with the rest of the team, the coaches, and everybody else. You go through that process, and you kind of get an idea of where you gonna move to as a team. How you gonna move forward? And I think I was really looking forward to the conversations with Aaron to see how he fit in that. Those never transpired, so there came a time we had to make some decisions.”

Gutenkunst feels that the disappointing season left a bad taste in everyone’s mouth and while Green Bay wanted to have Rodgers back as their primary leader, Rodgers’ disinterest in engaging in conversations ultimately forced their hand.
Rodgers still loves Green Bay
Despite everything that transpired, Aaron Rodgers still is very much appreciative of the Green Bay Packers. Having spent over fifteen years as the starting quarterback for the Packers, Rodgers established himself as one of the most dominant quarterbacks in a Green Bay uniform.

However, the addition of Jordan Love gave Rodgers the feeling that the Packers were ready to make a fresh start, Rodgers earlier went into a four-day “darkness retreat” to clear his head and come up with a decision. Recalling the years he spent with the Green Bay Packers, Rodgers said, “I f—ing love that city. I love that organization and always going to have love for that organization. The facts are right now they want to move on, and now so do I.”
