Mikaela Shiffrin was left disappointed after she was disqualified from the giant slalom on Sunday. This was highly unexpected, but sometimes it happens.
Other athletes have showered her with love after her performance, asking her to keep her head held high. Shiffrin has already said that she just needs to “reset” before the next event.

Now, Olympic analyst Lindsey Vonn has also backed her claim, saying that Shiffrin just needs some time before she is back again.
Lindsey Vonn believes Shiffrin has still got it in her
Mikaela Shiffrin had just crossed about 5 gates when she lost her balance during the giant slalom event on Sunday. This was not expected at all, as she was the defending champion.
But sometimes these things happen, and Shiffrin knows that. Even though she was highly disappointed, she knows she can go ahead and do better. She had said that she just needs to “reset” before her next event.
Olympic analyst Lindsey Vonn also thinks the same. In an interview with TODAY, she talked about Shiffrin’s performance.
“I think it’s important to keep things in perspective. This is one of 5 events, she is a medal contender in all 5, so 4 more chances,” said Vonn.

Shiffrin still has two more weeks to give her best. In fact, her best event, slalom, is yet to come. This is Shiffrin’s area of expertise and she is the gold medal prospect. Vonn agrees that Shiffrin has still got it in her, and just needs to rest.
“The great thing is, she’s not hurt. She’s able to pack herself up, she just needs to reset. Get a day of training in, get ready for slalom. Slalom is her favorite event, her best event. So she can get the ball rolling again.”
The fact that Shiffrin was not hurt is the most important thing. This means that she will be able to compete and give her best in the upcoming events.
Vonn, who herself is an alpine skier, has enough faith in Shiffrin that she will be able to pick herself up.

Lindsey Vonn believes that she will be able to ignore all these comments since she is an experienced player and a 3 -time Olympian.

“So you know, I think, with this being her 3rd Olympics and 3rdtime being a favorite, she has more experience to be able to cope with that,” said Vonn.
