After Nelly Korda and Allisen Corpuz saw their remarkable 5-0 partnership streak snapped by Maja Stark and Linn Grant, the four-time major champion received a breather in the afternoon fourballs. The break was crucial, allowing Korda to regroup and prepare for her Sunday singles showdown against Mimi Rhodes at the Solheim Cup. But as her match wound down, the American found herself at the center of a confrontation.

“Nelly tells someone in the crowd to ‘have some class’ after putting the finishing touches on a 4 & 2 win over Mimi Rhodes,” according to a post from ‘Nellylegion’ on X alongside a clip of the moment.
The clip showed Korda on the 16th hole, hitting her approach toward the flag. The ball rolled past the hole, but as the camera panned back to Korda, she appeared to turn toward the gallery and gesture at someone, visibly annoyed. Moments later, she directed her frustration at the fan, telling them to “have some class.”
It’s currently unclear what the fans had said that prompted Korda’s response. However, her caddie, Jason McDede, can be heard asking the fan, “Why would you say that?” Regardless, a similar incident hasn’t happened despite the pro-European crowd gathered at the venue. However, there were a couple of moments from the event that showed how the American golfers dealt with European fans.
On Friday afternoon, rookie Auston Kim, paired with Allisen Corpuz, drained a crucial birdie putt on the 15th while trailing 2 down, then turned to the galleries and shushed them with a finger to her lips. Jennifer Kupcho took it further during Saturday’s fourball match with Lindy Duncan against Carlota Ciganda and Céline Boutier.
After answering a Boutier chip-in birdie with one of her own on the 10th, she shushed the roaring crowd. She repeated the gesture on the 17th, adding a hand-to-ear taunt after her massive 90-foot birdie helped the U.S. tie the match, and again after sealing the 1-up win with a 25-footer on the 18th. Despite the incident involving Korda, the World No.1 delivered a strong, controlled performance in her Sunday singles match.
Nelly Korda took early control by winning the 2nd hole with a birdie to go 1 up, briefly lost the lead when Rhodes birdied the 5th, then immediately regained it with a birdie on the short 6th. The four-time major winner then pulled away with a birdie on the 7th and a win on the 9th to reach the turn 3 up. She extended the lead to 4 up by birdieing the 12th and closed out the match on the 16th after Rhodes double-bogeyed.
That said, Korda had anticipated some pushback from the gallery even before the event began. Speaking to the media on Wednesday, the 28-year-old admitted she was concerned about the level of support the Americans would receive while competing on European soil. She also stressed that Team USA would have to rely on one another for support. And so far, that approach appears to have served her well.
It is unclear whether Korda’s confrontation involved a European supporter. However, the incident comes less than a year after the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in New York, where American fans drew widespread criticism for their treatment of Rory McIlroy and other European players.
Reports say the rowdy crowd severely verbally abused and persistently heckled, while someone threw a beer can from the gallery that struck McIlroy’s wife, Erica.
Regardless, Korda delivered an impressive finish to her singles match. At the time of writing, however, Team Europe still leads Team USA 10–13, with five matches yet to be decided.
