“He Didn’t Say Sorry”- Daniil Medvedev On Argument With Diego Schwartzman

Daniil Medvedev continued with his history of confrontations at the ATP Cup. The latest installment was his show down with the Argentinian star Diego Schwartzman.

The Russian opened up on his reasons for the escalation of conflict with Schwartzman and the incident with the chair umpire.

What Did Daniil Medvedev Say?

Daniil Medvedev said that the possible reason for the escalation of the conflict was that Diego Schwartzman refused to apologize.

“Yeah, I thought, and maybe I’m wrong, I don’t know. I thought there was one point where I hit let, and then he, where he hit the let, sorry, and he passed me and he didn’t say sorry. It was a very tight moment, I lost the game after, but in my mind, I was, like, Okay, I think you should have said sorry. So I will get this back at you, and that’s what I did,just one time after during the match.”

Daniil Medvedev also confessed that he might have been in the wrong.

“I don’t know what he said to me. He said something in Spanish. I just tried to mention him that he hit the let and didn’t say sorry and that’s why I said screaming, “Come on.” That’s all I said”

Diego Schwartzman was pretty vocal about Medvedev’s bad attitude. The Argentinian said- “I told Medvedev at the net that he is a great player, but as a person he needs to change a lot. He is very disrespectful on the coury and does things that he doesn’t need to do.”

Daniil Medvedev had also smashed the umpire’s chair with his racquet twice. Ultimately, the Russian star went on to win the match 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 in a very heated contest.

However,his winning run in the tournament was brought to an end by Novak Djokovic in the semi finals.

Daniil Medvedev’s performance has never been under any doubt. Sadly, his attitude has always been the problem. He needs to drastically change his behaviour so that his performance is not clouded by non sport factors.
