“He Warms Up Four Hours Before” – Carlos Moya Reveals Rafael Nadal’s Routine Before A Match

Spanish superstar Rafael Nadal has been very successful throughout his career. He has won almost 1000 matches during his career which is absolutely amazing. To win so many matches, Rafa prepares himself very well. Check out his pre-match routine as revealed by Carlos Moya in a recent interview.

What Does Rafael Nadal Do Before A Match?

In the interview, Carlos Moya was asked about what Rafa does on the day of his match. Moya replied by saying,

“On the same day of a match, we have breakfast and then he likes to warm up long before the match. If a match is at 5 pm, he warms up 4 hours before. That means half an hour of intense tennis. I used to this 1 hour before a match but he prefers it this way.”

It must come as a surprise to most people that Rafa warms up four hours before a match. And what does he do after that, since he plays for only half an hour? Moya went on to talk about this and said,

“He likes to have some time to eat, to analyze and play a game of parchis. You may have seen us play that table game which helps us relax. He has very established routines. His way is this way.”

While Rafael Nadal’s way of warming up is certainly not what you would expect, it has worked very well for him. He has won 990 matches in his career and will soon reach 1000 but that is not something he will be thinking about as there are bigger things on his mind.

Rafa wants to become the GOAT of tennis and to do that he will have to hold one record – the most Grand Slam titles. After winning the 2019 US Open, he has come extremely close to beating this record which is why this record will constantly be on his mind.

He will have to wait for a while to beat this record as the ATP Tour has been suspended. It is scheduled to return in July when he will have the opportunity to beat the record.
