If you are a fan of any of the teams competing in the conference championship games this Saturday, you must be looking forward to all the previews, shows discussing your teams, and the program getting media attention. We have a whole slate of games coming up. However, that build-up is now disrupted with another thing that fans love following: recruitment.

While the entire college football community is excited about the conference championship, the overlap of National Signing Day has left the fans disappointed. They did not hold back their anger and outburst on X, “How stupid is it that national signing day is in the middle of conference championship week? What are we even doing?” Well, fans have a valid reason to get angry. Both events are equally important, and how can fans choose one?

While the excitement of the National Champion game is real. The future of college football programs plays a vital role. It is also frustrating for the coaches at the same time. Imagine going into a game where your post-season can crumble in 60 minutes and at the same time, you also have to plan for the future of your program. Well, that can’t be easy. For that reason, the anger is justified.

Fans left confused and frustrated amid signing day

Today is the early signing period. Where the high school recruits take the big decision of their lives and officially sign their National Letter of Intent with their favorite college football programs. Hold on! Fans are looking confused.

One of the confused fans wrote, “Is it just me, or did anyone else forget it’s national signing day?” Ahh! This is the big decision; high school players and fans want to be part of their process. But the overlapping of champion games has put fans in a dilemma.

Another frustrated fan thinks that the early national signing day is a distraction and wrote, “National signing day in the middle of conference championship week is an unnecessary distraction.” The comment highlights that at the moment fans want to enjoy the games and cheer for their favorite teams.

Another furious fan pointed out Marshall Thundering Herd football and tweeted, “What the hell is going on with Marshall athletics admin? Your HC has your team playing in the conference championship game; he doesn’t have a contract beyond this season, and today is National Signing Day. What is he telling recruits, and what is your expectation? Stupidity.” 

The questions did not stop here! Another fan questioned, “Somebody with more common sense than myself, explain why National Signing Day is the middle of the week of conference championships. Curious, why not the week after?”
