Over the years, Venus Williams has thrilled fans immensely with her performances. However, the kind of prolonged success that Venus has enjoyed on the Tour cannot be achieved alone, and the American had a vast team behind her.
Recently, a former member of Venus Williams’ entourage and Naomi Osaka’s former coach, Jermaine Jenkins, spoke about how he built his rapport with her and the manner in which he would train with her.

Jenkins talks about building a rapport with Venus Williams
During a recent podcast appearance, Jenkins was asked whether he ever gave advice to Venus while training with her. He mentioned that before progressing to that stage, he had to build a relationship with Venus.
He spoke on this subject and stated, “As things started out, you’re still trying to prove yourself. You have to build that relationship. So for me, I was fortunate enough to have a pre-season with Venus back in 2016 and I would train with her and do fitness… In 2017, I was a big part of her team during pre-season and we met her coach David Witt… I would tell him and then he would tell her. For me, it was like hey, I’m trying to keep the ball on the court and that’s my job.”
Coming to tennis, Williams has been one of the most celebrated players in the game. She is the proud winner of 7 Grand Slam singles titles in her career. Besides those, she has won multiple titles in the doubles section along with her sister Serena.

Reflecting on the current season, Williams has not performed up to her usual standards. She lost in the second round at the Australian Open and the Wimbledon Championships. At Roland Garros, she crashed out in the opening round.
She skipped the US Open due to injury. It will be interesting to see if she will be competing at the Australian Open 2022. We wish her all the best for the upcoming season.
