Since its inception in 2019, Apex Legends has expanded its horizons to become an ever-present name in the battle royale genre. One could argue that the game is not as popular as it once was, but even so, there are millions around the world jumping in daily. The devs have been doing their part by introducing new content and addressing existing issues.

Season 6 has been live for a few weeks now. Like previous seasons, Respawn has implemented numerous changes in Apex Legends this time. New gameplay features such as crafting systems, a fresh Legend, and a new energy-based weapon are only a few of them. The update has also included several adjustments to the combat roster and the loot pool.

The devs have attempted to alter the meta by making significant changes to how armor works in the game. Due to that, all armor (except Gold) available in the game has become Evo Armor. Players can now level up their armor by inflicting damage on opponents. However, they have also reduced overall armor health values by 25 HP to bring down the time-to-kill by a bit, to better reward strategic positioning.

The player base held contrasting opinions regarding the latter, and it quickly became unpopular. The difference caused in Armor HP was widely debated within the Apex Legends community. Recently, Respawn confirmed their decision to revert the armor health values to pre-season six numbers and keep all Evo Armor changes.

How Apex Legends is turning on the heat with Season 6

While it is easy to look at the negative aspect of things, the positives need to be noticed as well. As with other games, new content has been arriving in Apex Legends every season, and with it comes new bugs. It is important to enjoy the new content while the devs devise a workaround for the issues based on player feedback.

Redditor _Parizival_ has pointed out some improvements to Season 6 so far on the r/apexlegends subreddit.

Although the Season 6 update didn’t expand to a new map, World’s Edge received an extensive makeover. Apart from small tweaks and additions all across, the map gave rise to several new POIs. The introduction of the crafting system, Rampart, and the energy-based Volt SMG has certainly amped up the competition.

From weapons to loot items, everything received balancing updates. Several legends received their fair share of buffs and nerfs. All armor becoming Evo Armor has changed the dynamics on the battlefield. The main takeaway is that Respawn has been listening to feedback from their player base. They released an update that reversed the unpopular 25 Armor HP change and fixed some bugs.

Design Director at Respawn Entertainment, Jason McCord, explained the decision behind making and undoing the experimental changes in a blog. Despite receiving positive feedback with the new Armor meta via internal play testing, Respawn upheld the input from millions of players and undid the change. They have proved that they are open to feedback and listening to their players.

The future certainly has a lot of new things in store for the game. After an exciting start to the new season, Apex Legends could regain its lost popularity with the improvements it has been making.
