World No.31 Hubert Hurkacz has recovered and is ready to play at the upcoming Vienna Open 2020 starting next week. The Polish player could not take part in the ATP Cologne 2 due to food poisoning. Hence, he withdrew from the tournament without competing in a single match. It is definitely great news for the 23-year-old.

“I am feeling well now and I will play in the tournament in Vienna next week. Keep fingers crossed,” wrote an enthusiastic Hurkacz on Twitter.

Hurkacz last played at the Bell1Hulks Indoors 2020 in Cologne.  He fought hard but lost to Roberto Bautista Agut in the quarter-finals of the tournament. It is after this that he suffered from food poisoning.

Hurkacz also thanked all his fans and supporters who wished him to recover soon.

“Thank you very much for all the wishes for recovery,” added Hurkacz

This has not been an impressive year for Hubert Hurkacz. He hasn’t played well especially in the Grand Slams. At the Australian Open 2020, he got eliminated in the first round. Consequently, he got eliminated in the second round at both the US Open 2020 and the French Open 2020.

The 23-year-old performed much better at the recently concluded Italian Open 2020 where he managed to reach the quarter-finals of the event. Diego Schwartzman defeated him there, but he looked confident in the tournament.

After not performing that well at the Grand Slams, the polish player will not want to make the same mistake at the ATP Vienna Open 2020. But, he has tough competition as the World No.1 Novak Djokovic will also be participating in the event.
