Bulgarian tennis professional Grigor Dimitrov was one of the most exciting prospects when his name first did the rounds. Prior to his debut on the main stage, Dimitrov enjoyed a successful junior career. He held the world No. 1 ranking and won consecutive grand slam boys singles titles at the 2008 Wimbledon championships and the 2008 US Open.

A player of his calibre did carry high expectations. Grigor’s greatest achievement has been when he won the 2017 ATP Finals in London. Dimitrov won against David Goffin in three tight sets in the final. He finished the tournament as an undefeated champion.

Over the years, Grigor has lived in various cities across the globe, like Los Angeles and Paris. However, the Bulgarian ace currently lives in Monte Carlo in Monaco. Recently, he was asked about his liking for the place he currently resides in.

To which, he said, “For me, every time I come back here, I feel like I’m on holiday, that helps me to relax a lot. It’s like you come home, drop your bags and just want to go for a walk on the beach. You feel safe as well. You have so much privacy; that for me is the absolute key. I never had that when I was living anywhere else.”  

The former world no. 3 did indicate that he prefers to live a private life, much away from all the attention. He did give his opinion on the other cities he’s lived in.

He stated, “Paris was different. Sweden was actually very quiet, but still, when you go to the centre, it was very different. LA, I’m not even gonna talk about that. So, once I’m back here, it just feels like home. I think that it’s a very humbling feeling considering that you travel so much to be able to come to a place and call it home.”
