“I’m a Crazy Fanatic When it Comes to Laundry” – Grigor Dimitrov

With the regular tennis season in limbo due to the coronavirus pandemic, tennis players are finding unique ways to cope with the isolation. Former World No.3 Grigor Dimitrov is also finding a lot of ways to keep himself busy while staying indoors.

After the cancelation of the Indian Wells Masters, things have progressed rapidly and now the tour has been suspended until at least July 13. However, the players have to stay on their routine and keep themselves healthy to be ready to resume the tour at any time.

“The structure is needed for your mental strength” – Grigor Dimitrov

Dimitrov, who is staying at the West Coast of the U.S, revealed that his days have been pretty much the same. He is in good spirits. The Bulgarian had to make some adjustments but he is feeling good to let loose. “Tennis players are creatures of habit, so I still make sure to structure my day,” he said in an interview with the ATPTour.com

Dimitrov suggested that there’s a reason why some of the greatest minds of our time wake up early. Hence, he tries to get to bed on time, wake up early, and be productive in the morning.

“I think the structure is needed for your mental thoughts. Also washing our hands as much as possible. I’m a crazy fanatic when it comes to laundry and has been doing that twice a day,” he added.

“I’m lucky because I have a small gym” – Dimitrov

The 28-year-old explained that maintaining his physicality on a daily basis is the key. He always finds a way to exercise, event at home. It’s not easy, but he explicated that exercising helps you learn more about yourself.

“I’m lucky because I have a small gym on the property where I’m staying and can access it every day. I have a little basketball court to run around on or can go for walks,” Grigor divulged.

While letting himself some loose, Dimitrov is still focusing on eating healthy. He is also utilizing this time to stay connected with his friends and family. Moreover, Dimitrov also got a new perspective about what he wants to do in the future, after tennis, and some things he wants to do off the court.

The Bulgarian star is also using this to be himself. He is starting a course at Harvard Business School. He also donated some respirators to combat coronavirus in his country.

“For now, staying mentally strong is the most important thing. Hopefully, we only have a little bit more of this to go. I hope everyone can get out of this safely. I’m sure that we’re all going to resume what we love doing soon, but health is the most important thing right now,” he concluded.

We hope that everyone stays indoors in order to fight the coronavirus. We can take inspiration from Grigor Dimitrov and utilize this time on ourselves.
