Hundreds of protesters came out to the streets of Minneapolis to demand justice for the police killing of a black man, on Tuesday. Rising tennis sensation, Coco Gauff, also called for action against racial injustice all around the world.

Earlier, a video posted on social media showed that a white police officer pinned George Floyd, an African-American, down on the pavement, with his knee on the latter’s neck for several minutes. Subsequently, officials confirmed that the 46-year-old Floyd died at a local hospital.

Consequently, the authorities have fired the four police officers involved in the incident. Moreover, the attorney for Floyd’s family, Ben Crump, and several protesters called for their arrest.

“This needs to stop” – Coco Gauff

Coco Gauff also raised her voice against the social injustice happening around the globe because of the skin-color.

“I am in tears watching this video… every day innocent people are dying because of our skin color. No one deserves to die like that. I just can’t believe this. This needs to stop,” wrote Gauff on Twitter.

In the video, Floyd could be heard saying, “Please, please, I cannot breathe. Please, the knee in my neck.”

However, the officer told Floyd to “relax” and continued to hold him down. despite Floyd pleading and asking for water.

“My stomach hurts. My neck hurts. Please, please. I can’t breathe,” Floyd pleaded while moaning. However, the police ignored his pleas. Soon after, he went limp and motionless under the officer’s knee. Bystanders there begged the police to release Floyd but to no avail.

Consequently, an ambulance brought Floyd to Hennepin Healthcare, where he was declared dead.
