Tennis fans are hoping for tennis in 2020 and so is Rafa. But realistically, he does not believe it will be possible in the year 2020. In an interview with El Pais, Rafa said,

“I hope that we will be able to resume competition this year, but I don’t believe it, I am more concerned about the Australian Open 2021 than what will happen this year. I think the year 2020 is almost lost, I hope we can resume next year, I really hope so.”

Rafa believes this because the coronavirus is spreading faster than ever. So fast, in fact, that it looks like the world will not see any sporting action at all this year, let alone tennis. Nevertheless, we all must stay positive and hope that we will see the season return sometime in 2020.

While Rafa does not believe there will be any competition in 2020, there might still be some hope. Many countries have invested in the research for a vaccine against the coronavirus and have reported that they are close to developing something effective.

If a vaccine is successfully developed, then there is no reason why we cannot resume our normal lives in 2020. And tennis in 2020 will be the best thing for Rafael Nadal as he is in the race to become the GOAT of tennis. To become the GOAT, he must hold one record – the most Grand Slam titles.

Rafa is very close to beating this record which is currently held by Roger Federer. Hopefully, we can contain the virus and Rafa will have that opportunity this year itself.
