Former World No.1 Serena Williams revealed that she is ready to play ‘real tennis’ after the coronavirus-forced shut down of the sport. The tennis tour came to a halt in early March due to the public health crisis triggered by the coronavirus. However, Williams revealed that the extended break is beneficial for her.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion explained that the break was necessary for her body. However, she is now looking forward to getting back to play competitive tennis as she is feeling better than ever.
“I really look forward to getting back on the court,” Williams said in a live Instagram conversation with elder sister Venus Williams on Tuesday.

“It’s what I do best. I absolutely love playing. I felt like my body needed a break, even though I didn’t want it. And now I am feeling better than ever. I am feeling more relaxed, more fit, and now I can go and play real tennis,” she added.

“I like to go out and I just want to be on top of a rooftop bar with champagne in my hand. And just having a good time, dancing,” said Venus when asked about her excitement when life returns to normal.

The tennis season in on a hiatus for an uncertain period. However, Serena Williams, who is in the final phase of her career, will be hoping that the season resumes soon and she can once again start her bid for a record 24th Grand Slam title.
Williams won her last Major title at 2017 Australian Open while six weeks pregnant with her daughter Olympia. She returned to the tour eight months after giving birth to Olympia in September 2017. Since then, she reached four Grand Slam finals. However, she did not reach the finishing line in all the four opportunities.
