“I Can’t Hit With You”: Serena Williams Reveals Hilarious Tennis Session with Daughter Alexis Olympia

Tennis fans from all over the world have followed the journey of Serena Williams. The success she has enjoyed on the court seems difficult for players to match up with. Her ability to adapt to various changes and developments in life has been executed brilliantly. From beginning as a teenager to continuing to be at the top of her game during her motherhood, Williams has done it all. 

During the lockdown, Serena was spending quality time at home with the family. She felt the need to get her daughter Alexis Olympia out of the house. Enrolling her in some tennis lessons seemed a good idea, considering that social distancing could still be maintained.

Serena Williams: Tennis is still something you can do

Recently when Serena featured on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’ where she was asked about how she ended up getting her daughter a coach, given that she was a legendary player her. To this, Serena said, “Tennis is still socially distant. It’s something that we can do. I’m like, I got to get this kid out of the house. So I was like, what can I do? Tennis obviously, so we started with tennis and she loves it. The last thing is that I have no patience. If you can’t hit the ball, I can’t hit with you.”

Once Williams appointed the coach, she thought she would surprise the new coach at their first meeting. So Serena decided to accompany Alexis Olympia for her first training session. Much to her disappointment, the former world no. 1 decided to do an Instagram live video, and it so happened that the coach was viewing that video.

Williams said, “So I found this great tennis coach for her. She’s really sweet, but it was so funny. I was like okay I’ll show up at this lesson. This lady has no idea who it is. And you know, we got her like on one of those work apps… I’m talking about this on Instagram like we’re going here and she’s going to be surprised. And then she was like, well I wasn’t that surprised as I follow you on Instagram and everyone was asking me.” This must’ve surely been an amusing sight.

On the tennis front, Williams had skipped the French Open this year and will forward to being a part of the Australian Open 2021.
