After a triumphant beginning in Australia, Novak Djokovic dwelled efficiently on the ATP circuit this year and to glorify his season, the Serb is looking forward to clinching the ATP World Tour Finals trophy in London. He certainly believes that his present consistency on the tour will pave his way to the title at the O2 Arena.

“Of course, in terms of points, that puts me in a better position after this week. But, again, I have to keep on winning. There’s always a chance that I win all my matches in London, that I play well. I have done it in the past, and I like playing there,” said Novak Djokovic.

Now the Serbian legend has departed from the top spot on the ATP roaster after 52 weeks and rests on the second position. To recover that niche towards the end of the year, Djokovic needs to be present in the finals or win the championship in London provided the World Number one, Rafael Nadal underperforms.

ATP World Tour Finals is the tournament of the year, where the elite men of tennis wrestle against each other throughout the season to earn their ticket for the event. The tennis professionals with extreme dominance over the past ten months qualify for the Nitto Finals and that eventually makes the tournament extremely competitive.

In addition to that, it’s challenging for the players both mentally and physically, to play consecutive taxing matches over the course of seven days.

“But it’s an extremely difficult task considering who my opponents are going to be. You know, you’re playing the top 10 players every single match. So that’s a big task on my end that I have to focus on. And as a consequence, of course, if I manage to get the year-end No. 1, that would be, of course, fantastic,” World Number two, Djokovic added.

Amongst the top eight men in the race to London, Novak Djokovic has conceded defeats to Daniil Medvedev, Rafael Nadal, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Dominic Thiem this season, and he is undefeated against Roger Federer and Alexander Zverev in 2019. The Serb is yet to play Matteo Berrettini on the ATP Tour.

At Rolex Paris Masters 2019, Novak Djokovic collected his fifth crown in Bercy after defeating Denis Shapovalov in the finals and declared himself to be the unrivaled king of the Parisien hard-court.
