UFC woman’s flyweight champ Valentina Shevchenko last fought at UFC 247 this February. She took on and defeated her sister’s now opponent, Katlyn Chookagian, by third-round TKO. And now at UFC 250, Antonina Shevchenko will take on Chookagian at the Apex in Las Vegas.

Speaking with MMA Junkie about her upcoming clash and how she might draw some technical help from her sister, Antonina said that actually isn’t how it works. They both are very different fighters and their approach varies. Also, Chookagian will alter her approach as well.

“Not really,” Shevchenko told MMA Junkie on Wednesday. “Yes, I know her from the time that Valentina was preparing for her. Valentina is Valentina. Me is me. I’m a different opponent and she’s a different opponent. She had a different opponent in front of her. I have a different opponent in front of me. There’s no connection.… You never know what your opponents will bring you, for you (especially).”

Antonina Shevchenko has an X-Factor

Katlyn Chookagian is the second former title challenger Shevchenko faced in her UFC career. After analyzing their match, she spoke very highly of Chookagian’s technical abilities. “What I’m expecting is what she brings in every fight, (which is) very, very good standup techniques (and) striking techniques,” Shevchenko said. “She’s really good in this and doing spins, different techniques, high kicks, and power-punches and moving and (point-fighting). She’s good in that. That’s what I’m expecting from her, but I’m a world Muay Thai champion.
