Dana White shuts down Anderson Silva vs Anthony Pettis

UFC president Dana White didn’t seem to entertain this idea at all. At the pre-fight conference on Friday, he closed down all talks of their bout. He said, “I saw that, that they were going back and forth. Him and Pettis? Yeah, no. Guys talk s**t every day on Twitter and social media.”

Though both the fighters seem very keen on going through with the fight, the boss isn’t in favor of it. He also said, “I’m not crazy about it. You’ve got a guy that fought at 145lbs and a guy who’s in the conversation for the GOAT at 185lbs and walks around at 210, 215. It is not a big fight that really means something. I like making fights that mean something.”

Dana White doesn’t see any substance in the fight. No long-drawn history, no past duels, and also no hard-hitting rivalry. What does this fight amount to then, if it is just made over a few comments over social media?

White doesn’t know what’s next for Silva

Anderson Silva currently has 2 fights left on his contract with the UFC. The 45-year-old is probably towards the end of his career. And Dana White isn’t quite sure what’s next for him.

Anderson Silva also seemed interested in a catchweight clash against Conor McGregor. But that too doesn’t seem to interest Dana White.
