Dana White shuts down all talks about a possible matchup between Anderson Silva and Anthony Pettis.

Anderson Silva and Anthony Pettis have been in conversation over social media. This back and forth between the two eventually birthed the idea of a match between them. And their response on social media says they’re both in for it. However, there is one man that doesn’t see this going through.

UFC president Dana White didn’t seem to entertain this idea at all. At the pre-fight conference on Friday, he closed down all talks of their bout. He said, “I saw that, that they were going back and forth. Him and Pettis? Yeah, no. Guys talk s**t every day on Twitter and social media.”

Though both the fighters seem very keen on going through with the fight, the boss isn’t in favor of it. He also said, “I’m not crazy about it. You’ve got a guy that fought at 145lbs and a guy who’s in the conversation for the GOAT at 185lbs and walks around at 210, 215. It is not a big fight that really means something. I like making fights that mean something.”

Dana White doesn’t see any substance in the fight. No long-drawn history, no past duels, and also no hard-hitting rivalry. What does this fight amount to then, if it is just made over a few comments over social media?

Anderson Silva also seemed interested in a catchweight clash against Conor McGregor. But that too doesn’t seem to interest Dana White.
