American great Venus Williams has been an inspiration for youngsters throughout her career. Often living under the shade of her younger sister Serena, Venus surely has left her mark in history. However, the older sister is yet far from done.
Both the William sisters owe their careers to their father, Richard Williams. He shaped them into the players they are today. One must give credit to Richard, who not only groomed one but two champions. Many a time, people forget the efforts that go into the making, instead, they only pay attention to the success of their stories.
Venus Williams: Got to Earn My Spot for the Olympics

Recently, Venus was doing a question and answer on YouTube. On being asked if she intends to play the Olympics, she exclaimed, “I got to earn my keep, I got to get there. But if I earn my way there, I probably will. I love the Olympics.”

Venus did highlight the importance of her dad and remembered his love for the Olympics.

“I play the Olympics for my dad, my dad loved them. And then when I played the first time, I was like ‘oh my god’ I love the Olympics.”

Williams has had a successful spell at the Olympics over the years. Venus has won four Gold medals so far, one in the singles and the remaining three in doubles, partnering with her sister Serena. She has also won a Silver medal in mixed doubles.
After winning the mixed doubles Silver medal at the 2016 Olympics, Williams became the first tennis player to win a medal at four separate Olympic events.
