The last few days have been full of turmoil for OfflineTV’s Rust server. So much so, the founder of the server, Abe ‘BaboAbe’ Chung, announced a split in the server. Shroud is one of the most popular streamers in the scene right now and indicated his liking for the decision to do so. Even though he is not one to back down from PvP action, he feels a split in the server is a necessary evil.

Every streamer has a different play-style and a PvP mode wasn’t really working for everyone on the server. As a result, to combat this problem, a new server will be entirely focused on RP.

A viewer in his recent stream criticized the idea of a split in the server. To this, he said, “I don’t think you realize how many people want to play. They kind of need two servers. So many people, man. Like, we’re talking hundreds of people.”

Shroud believes a split in the server is a necessary evil

A few days back, Shroud pointed out that while the network was going great, it wouldn’t be long before things take a turn for the worse. He also claimed that xQc would be a reason for the downfall, and that’s exactly what happened.

He lashed out at other streamers, prompting the community to believe that the server was better off without him. In addition, one of the biggest streamers on the server- Pokimane announced her departure admitting that she “wasn’t having fun streaming.”

Abe felt her departure would convince other streamers to follow suit. Hence, he announced a split in the server, one which will be more controlled and will make the other streamers feel welcomed and would also allow other streams to join the network.

Even though Shroud agreed with the decision, he had a rather unique remark. He said,” The thing about the second server is that it’s going to be way more controlled. You’re going to have the southern portion of the map is going to be a safe zone. Nobody can loot your stuff when they kill you.”

“The north part is going to be all PvP. If you’re in Launch Site, killed on sight (KOS). If you’re in Power Plant, KOS. If you’re in Military Tunnel, KOS. If you’re in Oil Rig, KOS.”

He concluded by saying, “I think there’s going to be even more PvP on the second server than the first. It’s just going to be in a different way.”

The new OfflineTV Rust server goes live on January 7 at 5 PM PST/8 PM EST/2 AM GMT. Don’t forget to join in to find out who all have been invited this time.
