Kevin Lee wants some time off. He said he needs to sit back and gain some perspective. The fighter wants to introspect and see what he can do to prevent the mistakes he’s made in the past and better himself overall for the sport.

Kevin Lee last fought against Charles Oliveira at UFC Fight Night 170. He suffered a loss via submission at the beginning of the 3rd round. The fighter, on his part, believes he deserves a rematch as he could have offered more and lasted a few more rounds.

In an interview, he said, “I feel like we do need a rematch. Especially after the event, we put on, a rematch definitely should be warranted. I think we had 2 more food rounds in there.” Immediately after the fight, Lee was all for the rematch. But, he isn’t pursuing that anymore. What changed his mind?

Lee initially wanted to fight in April’s card but was talked into fighting earlier at Fight Night 170. He says he felt rushed into accepting. The fight, for him, was mainly for monetary reasons, something he says was wrong on his part. He said, “I’m not even going to scream for it. I’m going to sit back and reassess. And then we’ll go from there.”

The fighter for sure deserves and needs a break. He gives us details of what his plan is in the time to come. He said, “It still might be a minute before I fight again. It won’t be like 2 or 3 years like I was saying. It might be a year or something like that. I’m going to sit back and reassess.”

Kevin Lee went on further to justify his time off by saying, “Its just some things I got to get in order. I need to take my time with it. One of the things with the last fight was I lost my patience. I was fighting for the money. I think I need to force myself to want to learn some patience. And to really actually get my life in order. I’ve been fighting back to back for the last 5to 6 years. I feel like it’s about time.”

Kevin Lee is ready to move on. Better himself. And then come back stronger than when he left. We hope we see great things from him in the years to come!.
