Williams said that she heard about the news just as the US Open started and wasn’t ready for it. The American reminisced about being on tour with the Bryan Brothers since the beginning of her career.

“Honestly, I wasn’t ready for it. I knew it was going to come at some point, but, you know, I have been on tour with them our whole lives. It’s always sad to see another one go,” remarked Williams during the post-match interview after her third-round victory.

The six-time US Open champion added that the retirement of Bryan Brothers has moved her closer to the retirement stage, although she’s trying to avoid it. The Bryan Brothers made their debut in 1995 and interestingly Serena also made her debut the same year at the age of 14.
