Devin Haney was recently part of a YouTube live event. He discussed a lot of topics and didn’t have any sort of filter with his answers. He didn’t hold back and spoke his mind.

Devin Haney and Lomachenko shared quite the feisty back and forth on social media. There were a lot of shots thrown from either end and the heat was real. A rivalry like this can be settled in one way only.

Devin Haney is from Las Vegas’ and Lomachenko is from Ukraine. During the YouTube live session, responding to one of the comments Devin Haney said, “I can tell you this – I will never lose to a white boy in my life. I don’t care what nobody got to say. Listen, can’t no white boy beat me, I don’t care, on any day of the week. I fight a white boy like 10 times, I’m gonna beat him 10 times.”

Haney (24-0, 15 KOs), the WBC’s lightweight champion in recess and Lomachenko (14-1, 10 KOs), the WBC’s franchise lightweight champion heated social media interaction stems from a single comment Haney made. He said he would knock out Lomachenko if they were ever to fight.

Lomachenko is supposed to take on an undefeated lightweight. This match will go down once the whole coronavirus situation settles down. Teofimo Lopez was supposed to appear opposite him at Madison Square Garden for a 12 round bout this May. Unfortunately, that stands postponed until we receive further clarification on the situation.

Meanwhile, The 21-year-old Haney is supposed to take on Dominican Republic’s Javier Fortuna in his next bout. Fortuna is ranked on top of the WBC lightweight division. He was originally supposed to take on England’s Luke Campbell, who stands just below him on the list. But that fight too stands postponed indefinitely.

Haney had requested to fight Fortuna for the title next but had to back out due to shoulder surgery in December. This saw Haney lose his title as the surgery prevented him from appearing at his mandatory defense match. Once it all resumes to normal, we will hopefully see Devin Haney take on Fortuna.
