Darren Till is one of the most promising prospects of the upcoming UFC roster. The 27-year-old has a huge challenge ahead of him that can make or break his time at the Middleweight division. And that is, the returning former Middleweight champion, Robert Whittaker.

The two will collide at UFC 174 come July 25. “The Gorilla” took to Instagram to show his fans just how serious he is about the fight.

“One day before my failed title attempt in 2018, I will not fail again.”

This is a photo of Till in Texas, where he took on the then Welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley. Till lost that fight after “The Chosen One” dropped him in round two and submitted him via D’arce choke.

Till fought another battle at Welterweight after his loss in the title match. He met Jorge Masvidal at UFC Fight Night 147. However, he lost the bout in the second round yet again, this time via KO.

It was after his loss to Gamebred that Till moved up to Middleweight. His first stint at 185 lbs put him face-to-face with Kelvin Gastelum.

Even though Gastelum has quite a reputation of being one of the toughest Middleweights, Till succeeded in putting him down as he emerged the victor via split decision.

How huge of a challenge will Robert Whittaker prove out to be for Darren Till?

Robert Whittaker is coming back to the Octagon after disappearing from the scene post his loss to Israel Adesanya.  He stated recently that he met a condition of burnout and decided to rest up before returning.

“The Reaper” has been a formidable athlete. He has defeated Yoel Romero twice. Moreover, his ugly times with injuries and serious conditions due to improperly treated staph infection, ensured the road was not all that smooth for him. Yet, he rose to become the Middleweight champion.

He lost out to “The Last Stylebender” at UFC 243 via second-round KO.

Now, as he returns, pundits predict that he will be returning with a fresh and agile mind. After dealing with his burnout, he himself decided to step back onto the canvas.

He holds a good overall capacity as a mixed martial artist, boasting of national wrestling gold and meticulous striking.

Mentally, Whittaker may be looking at dominating again. The 29-year-old definitely has a long way to go before he hangs his gloves. Therefore, if he has set his mind to establishing a reign again, there is very little that will hinder his confidence.

Thus, Till will meet an extremely tough step-up towards his championship goal as he takes on the #1 Middleweight. Consequently, if he does manage to put down Whittaker, it is very, very possible that he will be next in line for a shot at Middleweight gold.

Do you think Darren Till will rise to the occasion and defeat Whittaker?
