Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek has been one of the youngest who has impressed a large number of people with her splendid performances. When it is her day, there are very few players who manage to compete in a clinical manner as she does.

Recently, the Pole was competing in the Qatar Open in Doha. Here, Swiatek played some of her best tennis of the season and won the title after beating Anett Kontaveit in fine fashion.

However, the thing that caught everyone’s attention was her speech post the match. She reflected on the current tensions between the countries Ukraine and Russia.

Iga spoke on this subject and stated, “I want to show my support to all the people who are suffering in Ukraine. Seeing those images is really emotional for me. I wouldn’t even imagine stuff happening like that in the country next to me. I hope in the end it will be safer. Also, I hope that even though this is a small event, looking at all the problems we have in the world, the sport is going to connect.”

Speaking on tennis, Swiatek began the season on a good note. She reached the semifinal of the Australian Open before going down to Danielle Collins. Post that, she was seen in Dubai but lost in the round of 16 to Jelena Ostapenko.

The Pole sees success for the first time in 2022 

After competing in Dubai Tennis Championships, she won the first title of the season. She registered some impressive wins over this past week. Swiatek defeated players such as Daria Kasatkina and Aryna Sabalenka, After that, she beat Maria Sakkari in the semifinal before going the distance today.
