Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev is enjoying one of his best seasons on the Tour so far. He registered his best performance in most of the Grand Slam events this season.

At the moment, Daniil Medvedev is representing his nation Russia at the Davis Cup Finals 2021. Interestingly, during the group stage matches, they were up against Spain and they emerged on top of the Spanish giants.

However, during the matches Daniil played, he was booed and not well received by the crowds. Naturally, the tie was being played in Madrid and the crowds would’ve been biased towards the players belonging to their nation.

Speaking on the match and the overall experience, Medvedev stated, “Yeah, I’m really happy for the team to be in the final. I mean, amazing two weeks so far for us, beating Spain was the highlight. I think beating Spain in Madrid was really for all of us we were so happy in the locker room, to beat the home favorites.”

Daniil Medvedev has learned to deal with situations 

Over the years, Daniil has learned to not let the crowds get the better of him. Initially, he would get provoked by certain sections of the crowds. Reflecting on the Davis Cup tie, the Russian powerhouse was happy to secure the win and top the group. However, the World No. 2 player issued a warning for fans. 

The 25-year-old added, “It was a really nice feeling and I’m really happy about it. The highlight of the week was beating Spain here in Madrid. We were all so happy about that. I’ve been telling you since 2019 if you want me to lose, support me, don’t boo me.”

Coming to tennis, Medvedev has guided his team to the finals in which they will be up against Croatia. It will be interesting to see who emerges as the winner. We wish players from both teams all the best and may the better team win.
