Serena began her season in Melbourne but lost in the semifinal to eventual champion Naomi Osaka. After that, she took a brief break from the Tour and made a return during the clay season in Rome.

However, she was unable to impress with her performances on the surface and, as a result, did not make it deep into the French Open. After that, prior to the Wimbledon Championships, Williams did not play any warm-up event.

Later at the All England Club, she suffered an opening-round exit as she ended up twisting her ankle during the first set of the match. She has decided to skip the US Open this season. We hope to see her competing on the circuit soon once again.
