Dustin Poirier took to twitter and announced that he will fight soon and will take his pay in the form of blood! ‘The Diamond’ fights in the UFC’s lightweight division. Currently, he has a 26-6-0 record and is looking to add to the win counter.

The former interim lightweight champion tweeted out a statement that points towards an exciting fight soon. In a string of tweets, Dustin Poirier wrote, “Paid in full. I’m gonna go out there and earn it on blood.”

Though there isn’t any official confirmation, everyone seems to link Tony Ferguson as his next opponent. This stemmed from him retweeting Tony Ferguson’s post that read “having fight news soon.”

Poirier and ‘El Cucuy’ were initially supposed to meet this October at the co-main event of UFC 254. But failed negotiations resulted in that fight falling through. They both will no longer be a part of the UFC 254 fight card.

Dustin Poirier and Tony Ferguson’s recent fights

Poirier most recently went up against Dan Hooker. This bout was in contention for ‘Fight Of The Year’ as Poirier secured the victory in the fifth round via unanimous decision at the main event of UFC Fight Night in Vegas.

Prior to this, he suffered a submission loss at the hands of current lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 242. He had his title shot, and it went by.

Meanwhile, Tony Ferguson in his last fight took the loss against Justin Gaethje. This was Ferguson’s first loss in eight years. This fight crowned Justin Gaethje as the interim lightweight champ. He will now go up against Khabib Nurmagomedov in a unification bout at UFC 254 set for October 24.
