There is no denying that the former world heavyweight champion, Mike Tyson, is a scary individual. It is also worth noting that nobody has the courage to say no to ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’. In fact, he once asked Canadian boxer Donovan ‘Razor’ Ruddock to become his ‘girlfriend’.

Verbal intimidation has been a long-used tactic ahead of fights. Tyson was talking at the pre-fight press conference. This was when he decided to give Ruddock a piece of his mind. Tyson said, “You should get up and kneel to me now. And, I’ll spare you the night of the 28th.”
However, Ruddock was unfazed by Tyson’s words. He responded by saying, “You come in, and you come ready, you understand? Because I’m gonna come ready.”

When Mike Tyson fought Razor Ruddock
Mike Tyson had previously faced Razor Ruddock at The Mirage in Paradise, Nevada on March 18, 1991. Tyson won the bout by a 7th-round TKO. However, the fight was mired by controversy. It was stated that the referee, Richard Steele, stopped the fight even though Ruddock was fit enough to continue fighting.

This led to a second fight being set up within 3 months. The fight, aptly titled, ‘The Rematch’, saw the duo face each other at the same venue on June 28, 1991. While Ruddock showcased a stellar performance, Tyson went on to emerge victorious the second time. He was declared the winner by unanimous decision, thereby cementing his position as the number one contender in the heavyweight division.
