“I’m Not Offended”: Sloane Stephens on Novak Djokovic’s Players Association Not Including Women

A few days ago, Novak Djokovic and Vasek Pospisil revealed their plan to form a Professional Tennis Players’ Association. While there were many who lauded the idea and were ready to fight for that cause, the lack of inclusivity is something that has stuck out like a sore thumb.
Considering that there were talks of merging the ATP and WTA, many might find this proposal bizarre, and the American star Sloane Stephens recently revealed what she feels about the same.

In a recent interview, Sloane Stephens was asked about whether women should have been included in the recent proposal by Pospisil. She replied by saying,
“I think they felt like they needed to do what was best for them. The women were not included in that. Very so much we are separate from that situation. I know there will be discussions after the tournament to see where the women fit in with that.
“I think now once the tournament started everyone focused here on the US Open. That’s very much in the past.”
The American star went on to say, “I mean, they said they needed to do what they needed to do. I mean, I’m not offended. It is what it is. If it’s right for us, it will be right for us. If not, then not. I’m not going to stress out about it too much.
“It might not be the right situation for us. It might be. We just have to wait and see.”
