Spain’s David Ferrer had a bright career as a player. He won nearly everything that was there for taking in the sport, except a Grand Slam title. If there ever was a player who knocked on the doors of ‘the big 4’, it was him. Even though David wasn’t the biggest man on tour, he was still considered a threat in the men’s game. After hanging his boots, Ferrer has taken up a new role in the game. He has joined the coaching team of highly-rated German, Alexander Zverev.

Interestingly, the last match of Ferrer’s career came against his current pupil. Talking about the relationship he shares with Zverev, he said, “I knew him from having played against him and later in confinement he called me again and finally we made the opportunity.”

David Ferrer Brings Experience 

He said that one doesn’t have to win a special title to become a successful coach. As he remained on top of his game throughout his career, he definitely understands the game well.

On his new role, he stated, “it is very important to know how to adapt to the player and look for the hours in which you are going to get more performance out of him.”

Talking about his student, Zverev was the finalist at this year’s US Open. It’s his best performance in a Grand Slam event.

He is a talented player who has the potential to win majors. In 2018, Alexander beat Federer and Djokovic to win the ATP World Tour Finals. With David in his corner, he can seek the desire and added motivation in accomplishing his goals.
