Answering this Masvidal said, “3 years. In 3 years’ time, I’m done fighting competitively. I’ll fight every year, 3-4 times a year. I don’t think I can ever truly say that I’m retired or I’m never going to fight again. I’m the type of guy who will come back at 43 years old! I don’t think I have to urge to stay away from it. I will give into that urge. I’m not going to say I’ll be retired 3 years from now. But I’m going to take my extended break. Right now I’m almost 17 years pro. Right around that time, at 38 years old I’m going to take a nice long break. Maybe I don’t come back. Maybe I do come back. But at that moment I would have full filled all the things I’ve wanted to do in this part of my life.”

Masvidal doesn’t swear off the UFC. He knows he’ll be drawn back. But once he’s completed his notebook, he’s going on an extended break.
