From 17-21 down in the first half, Team India pulled off an amazing comeback to defeat Iran 38-29 to win the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup. Ajay Thakur stood out as the star performer for Team India by grabbing 12 points for his side.

The match saw a difficult start for team India as they lacked consistency in their defense.

Iran looked strong as they were ahead by 19-14, and the champions were struggling down the match. But soon, the adrenalin of the charismatic Indian players pumped up, as they performed a historic comeback in-front of their home crowd. Nitin Tomar stood out exceptionally well in the Indian defense and made sure he was there when his team needed him the most.
