Indian Wells 2019: Naomi Osaka – “I Sleep Kind of Early”

The two-time Grand Slam champion, Naomi Osaka has settled for her first loss as the World Number one in the opening round of the Dubai Open as she defeated the French woman, Kristina Mladenovic in the round-of-64 of the Indian Wells 2019. It was a 6-3, 6-4 victory for the top-seeded Japanese at the Indian Wells 2019 and her success was rejoiced by the freezing ambience of the Californian Tennis Paradise. It was also her first win after she annulled her thriving league with her former coach Sascha Bajin.

In the press conference after her first win at the Indian Wells 2019, Osaka spoke about the inconveniences which are caused to her while playing night matches. Though the 21-year-old tennis adept receives favourable outcomes during night sessions, however, she does not prefer playing during that part of the day.

“Well, I mean, I really used to just dislike night matches because you’re, like, the last one there, and honestly I sleep kind of early,” Osaka addressed the press of the Indian Wells 2019. “I think I have a good night-match win streak going for me right now, so I’m not going to say anything negative about that. Actually, it’s good, because you get to sleep in for a really long time and then take a nap. So, yeah, I kind of enjoy it now.

Besides that, Osaka was overwhelmed by the crowd of the Indian Wells 2019. She was delighted to see kids getting entertained and was pleased by the guy who said it was freezing and finish it fast during her opener at the Indian Wells 2019. “Yeah, for me, it’s really fun, because I feel like people get engaged in the match,” the reigning champion, Osaka said. “They’re just here and having a good time. I don’t know. Like, I know that you’re not technically supposed to be listening to, like, the outside crowd, but when they are shouting it down, I try not to laugh, but it’s really funny. Yeah, I think that moment really stood out for me,” she added while speaking to the press at the Indian Wells 2019.
