As the fight between Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier draws closer, both the fighters must be going all-out in training. While Daniel Cormier makes regular appearances of podcasts, Miocic is the one who doesn’t step into the limelight. However, the champ has released exclusive footage to keep his fans updated on his preparations for the biggest fight of his career.

Miocic will defend his heavyweight crown against Daniel Cormier on August 15. The fight will be the third meeting between Miocic and Cormier. The two shared the outcome of the first two. Thus, this trilogy comes with as high stakes as possible.

Even before he fought DC, Miocic was well on his way to become the best heavyweight in UFC history. At least statistically he had reached that level. after having the most number of title defenses among the big boys of the UFC. However, his true test came against Cormier. The manner in which he rebounded from the loss against DC showed that he was willing to learn and make the necessary adjustments.

With both fighters having spent significant time with each other in the Octagon, the test gets tougher than ever. Hence, even Miocic isn’t letting go of the inches in training.

The winner of Stipe Miocic vs Daniel Cormier III will be the heavyweight GOAT of the UFC

On 15th August, it won’t just be the UFC heavyweight title on the line. Obviously, there will be the added incentive of coming out of not just the winner of the fight but the whole trilogy. However, given what both these fighters have done in their careers, this will be their biggest bid, and possibly the last one too, to earn the title of heavyweight GOAT of the UFC.

Daniel Cormier was undefeated in the division unless he lost to Miocic last year. The former Strikeforce heavyweight champ could have held the UFC heavyweight gold much earlier had it not been his decision to go down. He did so to avoid a clash with his friend and training partner Cain Velasquez. Even then he was able to work his magic at heavyweight after a long gap.

UFC President Dana White puts his stamp of approval on the legitimacy of the UFC heavyweight GOAT conversation between the two.

“The truth is going into this fight with all the hype, one of these two that wins the fight, definitely goes down as the best heavyweight in UFC history and they’re both candidates,” he said while talking to ESPN recently.
