Emily Ducote just picked up a first-round knockout victory against Danielle Taylor to become the new strawweight champion of the Invicta Fighting Championships.
Interestingly, both fighters were coming off a win to compete for the vacant title as the promotion made its return to pay-per-view. A former King of the Cage strawweight champion and UFC fighter, Danielle Taylor was hoping to become a champion once again.
However, the younger and seemingly hungrier, Emily Ducote, had her own plans. Right from the start, Ducote took the center of the octagon, pressuring the UFC veteran with footwork and feints. A Taekwondo black belt, Ducote kept using her lead kick to keep Taylor from finding her rhythm.

Halfway through the very first round, Ducote found an opening to land a vicious counter right hand, which visibly froze Taylor for a second. The Oklahoma native then landed a brutal head kick to neutralize her adversary.
The 27-year-old had quite the celebration after the stoppage, jumping inside the cage with excitement at having achieved championship status.
Emily Ducote’s ability to dart in and out of range, coupled with her crisp boxing, makes her a nightmare for any opponent. Add to that the constant threat of a head kick, and Ducote seems almost unstoppable. One can expect ‘Gordinha’ to stay on top of the division for the foreseeable future.

Will Emily Ducote compete in the UFC?
A former Bellator fighter Ducote left the promotion in 2018 following a three-fight skid. Since then, Ducote has now racked up three wins in her last four appearances under the banner of Invicta FC. A fighter that is looking to make a mark in the sport, Ducote’s dedication to becoming a better fighter is unquestionable.

If Ducote can succeed at keeping that belt wrapped around her waist, one can imagine the UFC displaying an interest in getting her on their stacked roster.
In fact, the UFC reached out to Ducote for a short notice fight earlier this year. And although that didn’t work out, we now know that Emily is on the UFC’s radar.
