IPL 2020: Nathan Coulter-Nile Sold for 8 Crore to Mumbai Indians

The much anticipated IPL 2020 auction has been taking place in Kolkata on December 19th, 2019. Earlier 997 players were chosen but it has cut down to 332 now. Among these 186 players are Indian and 143 are overseas players and 3 players are from Associate Nations.

The players like Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Chris Lynn, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Dale Steyn & Angelo Mathews have kept their reserve price of INR 2 crore. Robin Uthappa is the only Indian who kept his base price of INR 1.5 crore while three other players – Piyush Chawla, Yusuf Pathan and Jaydev Unadkat have set their base price at INR 1 crore.

Nathan Coulter-Nile was a part of the Mumbai Indians in 2013 season where Mumbai and the Rajasthan Royals engaged in a bidding war. Delhi Daredevils bought him for Rs. 4.25 crores at the 2014 IPL auction.

In February 2017, Kolkata Knight Riders bought him for 3.5 crores while Royal Challengers Bangalore bought him for Rs. 2.2 crores in January 2018. However, Royal Challengers Bangalore have released him ahead of the 2020 IPL auction. He has so far played 26 games where he bagged 36 wickets with the best figures of 4 for 20.

Defending champions Mumbai Indians bought him a staggering amount of INR 8 crore to for the upcoming season of IPL. He will join the team’s attack which already has the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Lasith Malinga, Mitchell McClenaghan, Trent Boult and Hardik Pandya.

Mumbai Indians opened the bidding at INR 1 crore while Chennai Super Kings soon joined them. Both the teams went simultaneously where Chennai Super Kings decided to give up when the price touched the 8 Crore.
